The Allen Americans and The Scots Hockey Association

The Scots Hockey Association, in conjunction with the Allen Americans of the Central Hockey League, has announced that the Scots Hockey Association will skate under the moniker of Allen Americans beginning in 2011-12. The change in name means that the teams will now skate in the familiar red, white and blue adorned by the Allen Americans Professional Hockey Team.
The Scots, who began play in 2002, currently operate with 9 teams from the Mite to Midget age group.
Scots President Eric Wade and past President CJ Early, along with a very dedicated board have worked to make the Scots Hockey Association a professional quality Tier II program in north Texas.
The Scots Hockey Association has been committed to the dedicated improvement of hockey in North Texas since it's beginnings, “ Wade said. "We are very excited about the direction we are going with the Allen Americans and the City of Allen to support youth hockey in the North Texas area."
Americans President Matt Canavan helped to spearhead the change alongside Wade.
“We feel like this move will help us continue our support of hockey in North Texas from the grassroots level to the professional level,” Canavan said. “Our ownership has been committed to the development of the game in our area from the very beginning, and this is yet another step in that process.”
The Allen Americans Youth Hockey Association will compete in the North Texas Hockey League (NTXHL), which encompasses teams throughout the states of Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, with levels of ‘B’, ‘A’, and ‘AA.’
The Scots began skating at the Allen Community Ice Rink and Allen Event Center for the 2010-11 season, after making the move from Ice Training Center in Richardson. The Allen Event Center is home to the CHL’s Americans.
Allen Community Rink Hockey Director and Scots Midget 'AA' Head Coach Jeff
Ramsay said that this announcement will greatly benefit hockey in North Texas.
“The Americans brand has grown significantly in our first year and a half as a franchise,” Canavan said. “We hope that this partnership will help only help to grow the success and awareness of the Allen Americans and the newly minted Allen Americans Youth Hockey Association.
After finishing out the current season under the Scots name, the organization will implement the name change for Fall 2011.

The Scots Hockey Association (SHA) was founded as a non-profit
organization located in Allen, Texas. SHA is staffed with Board Members,
coaches and volunteers who give their time in support of a well rounded Mite
through Midget youth hockey program.
Our professional and experienced USA Hockey certified coaching staff works to
build character, teamwork, sportsmanship and life skills to benefit the players
both on and off the ice as well as a passion for the game of hockey.
We look at our program as a spring board for the individual players to achieve
the next level of youth hockey in high school and at college levels that provide
these institutions with well trained, disciplined and motivated
student-athletes.
We encourage the highest standards both on and off the ice in order for our
players to achieve their fullest potential as student-athletes.
